The five R’s of the Industry

The Types of Construction EMCR does:

- Remodel: Remodeling is quite an all-encompassing term, but it refers to changing the  model that currently exists. In other words, changing the layout, changing the functions,  redesigning and then building to those specifications.

- Rebuild/reconstruct: Rebuilding or reconstructing is mostly used when referring to  building something again exactly the way it was before. This can happen because of  serious damage, failing foundations, necessary structural improvements, after a home has  completely burned to the ground, and many more reasons. However, in today’s world,  very few people want to keep things identical, unless it is a strict insurance claim  situation where that is all that will be covered/paid for.

- Renovation: Typically, in general terms renovations, or renovating, refers to simply  keeping the layout and design of your home the same, but updating the selections and  making it seem current and not dated.

The ones EMCR does NOT do:

- Remediation: Remediation is the correction of something bad or defective. In  construction, this term is used when something goes wrong and needs repair. Common  examples include water/flood damage, hail/wind damage, fire damage, mold problems,  and sometimes structural damage. Remediation issues are almost exclusively insurance  claims, and also require very specific work to be done in each circumstance to prevent  future issues with what is taking place onsite. There are companies that specialize and  only perform remediation work (like ServPro). Although EMCR is qualified and capable  to perform remediations, this is not a service we provide.

- Restoration: Restoration is the process of returning something to its original condition. In  construction, this term is typically only used when referring to antique items, very old  buildings, etc. With these types of things in a home, in order to achieve the desired  original look, it can often times be a very detailed, long and arduous process. Again,  although EMCR is qualified and capable to perform restorations, this is not a service we  provide.
